Announcement: New Cake Shapes

I was generously rewarded by Santa this year, so I thought I would announce the newest additions that will be joining the round and square cake pans! ¬†Please give a warm welcome to the Hexagon and the Petal pan sets! ūüėČ ¬†They have been unpacked, washed and are patiently waiting to be filled with yummy cake batter!

Snow Day!

This post won’t be about cake (sorry!). ¬†We got 12 1/2 inches of snow dumped on us last night and school was cancelled. ¬†I’ve decided to share with you a little of what we do on our days off! ¬†We started the day with French Toast. ¬†Why? ¬†Because we have eggs coming out our ears and 3 loaves of bread, so why not! ¬†Then we made homemade soft pretzels. ¬†This is a tradition that goes back to my childhood…well, my Mom’s childhood, truth be told. ¬†The recipe at the end of the post.

The following email was in my inbox this morning from WordPress, who, for at least the next few months, has hosted my blog since its inception. ¬†I think it’s funny and I think that someone has too much time on their hands! ¬†Just thought I’d pass it along! ¬†Happy New Year and thank you for making 2010 a successful year! ¬†Enjoy!

The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010, and here’s a high level summary of its overall blog health:

Help Build a Track for Father McGivney Catholic High School

This is what I care about! I know I just bothered you wonderful readers with something similar, but there is another opportunity for me to help Father McGivney Catholic High School to win some money and I need YOUR help!

The Bob Emig Foundation, an area organization dedicated to mentoring students through sports, has generously entered a proposal in the Pepsi Refresh Everything Challenge.   WHEN they win $250,000, they will use that money to help build an all-weather track at Father McGivney Catholic High School.  This track will be used by the students of McGivney as well as for community events.

Now comes the plea!  Please vote for the Bob Emig Foundation to win $250,000 in the Pepsi Refresh Everything Challenge!   You can vote daily from your computer by visiting the Pepsi website AND as a bonus, you can also vote daily by texting* 101879 to PEPSI (73774) [*standard text rates may apply].

Now I want to thank you for being such great and loyal readers and for listening (reading) as I try to reach the most people I can to help vote! ¬† Let’s help those students get a track!
