Tool Belt Father's Day Cake

Dad loved his cake. He was impressed by the “stitching” on the toolbelt. My nieces and nephew fought over who got to eat the tools. ~Kay

Catching Up (AGAIN!)

I’ve included Birthday, Holiday and a Religious cake from the past few weeks! You can click on each picture to make it bigger and bring up a description of it! Thanks for being patient with me! More cakes to come in a few days!

Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’

This cake was requested by a bride as a surprise for her groom. It was fun to try and sculpt a cake to look like a tire!   The bride was so sweet that she took time out after her rehearsal was over to call me and thank me for the cake.  Thank you, Jennifer, for letting me be a part of your special occasion!

This cake was absolutely fantastic! It tasted great and exceeded my expectations! Thanks so much! ~ Jennifer

The Cake That Almost Was…

Movie-Themed Cake

Movie-Themed Cake

Back in August, I was contacted by a school to make a cake for their fundraising auction. Over the last several months, we’ve emailed back and forth to come up with the perfect cake for their event. I spent a few hours designing it, several hours in the last week getting the decorations finished so they had time to dry, a few hours baking, and then several more hours decorating the cake. This cake is a sample cake for an upcoming project that has the potential to keep me very busy!  I love how it turned out, but next time, the big bow will be purple!   Those cupcakes are jumbo cupcakes!  They are about twice the size of a normal cupcake!  I’m actually liking how they came out!

Two and 21

This was a birthday cake weekend!  The first was a party for a young lady turning 21 and the second was for the cutest little red-head turning 2!  I learned a new trick this week that helps speed up the drying time on gum paste.  If you turn your oven light on, put the item in the oven that you want to dry and close the door, the drying time significantly decreases!  The items on the 21st birthday cake were all done this way.  Just remember, if you use this technique, just make sure EVERYONE that lives with you knows…the smell of burning gum paste is NOT pleasant!  I just left a note for all to see!

What  difference 2 years and some classes makes!  This is the cake I did almost 2 years ago for my nephew’s 1st birthday!
